Here's what we looked like when we started this weekly blog in January 2009 compared to what we look like now. When the top picture was taken, I had already lost about 30 pounds of my eventual 100 pounds, and Rhonda had already lost about half of her eventual 50 pounds. (Even though she is wearing a Planet Fitness T-Shirt, we are at the same location inside Gold's Gym in both pictures.) We continue loosing weight. Rhonda lost 2 pounds from last week, down to 216 pounds. And I lost 2 pounds, down to 215 pounds.

Our health insurance company has six health challenges a year. If we meet the goals of the health challenge, we get a rebate of $25 off our insurance premium. If we do a health assessment, that's an additional $50. This is the 3rd year that we have participated. The health challenge which started November 1st, was not to gain weight during the holidays. Today was our weigh-in for that. We'll weigh ourselves again each week and the final time, January 1st, 2011 needs to be the same or lower for us to qualify for the $25 each.

Today was also the all-important measurement day, it being the first Friday of the month. Rhonda gained about an inch average on her measurements, while I lost a half inch after several months of staying the same.

  1. Wow, what a great idea for a health insurance company to offer that type of incentives! I'm sure it will ultimately save them money in the long run, (as well as save you money) and is even extra motivation to meet your diet and fitness goals.
Congrats to both of you this week!
