Good News!

Good News!

Bill is 279 pounds today. Yeah, that's just one pound lighter than last week, but we weren't able to excersise as much as we have done in other weeks. Dropping two pounds a week is what we are both shooting for. Rhonda is still hesitant about listing her current weight on this blog, because she is just now on the mend from her bad cough. But if you'll find "Called To Serve" in the LDS Hymnbook, that might give you a clue what weight she's at right now! Here's a picture of the chocolate cigars we passed out this week to celebrate the birth of our first grand child. Rocklond Tanner Pickett is his name. We might have passed them out, but we didn't eat them. Nothing raises your set point, or "fat themostat" more than chocolate! For a good one page summary of set point weight loss, go to this link http://medweb.mit.edu/pdf/set_point_theory.pdf

Where is this "fat themostat?" It's the hypothalamus which is on the pituitary gland at the under side of the brain. For a good description of how important the hypothalamus is, watch the movie Osmosis Jones, with Dan Akroyd.

  1. Bill,
Imagine 4 sticks of butter. (Equals 1 pound) Now imagine those 4 sticks of butter sliding off of your body. Thats what you did for your self this week! The equivalent of 4 sticks of butter is gone from your body! Congratulations.

Now I need to go find my hymn book. Keep up the good work you guys!
