The Life and Times of a Fat Particle
Let's call our fat particle Tom. Tom is attached to some hamburger. Tom gets eaten and goes into the digestive system. There, everything is broken down to the molecular level and gets absorbed into the body. Since Tom is a fat particle, he is actually broken down molecule by molecule, but for our purposes here, we will says that Tom is put back together enough for our illustration. So Tom is sent to one of the fat storage areas of the body(we'll say the belly) for safe keeping. The body doesn't know when it will need Tom, but if it ever does, it wants him handy for when he is needed.
Tom could stay in that place for years, but lets say that Tom has the incredible opportunity to have been eaten by a person who has just started an exercise program. Tom enjoys his new home, but the body has just started a workout. After twenty minutes, enzymes in the bloodstream start to be invigorated and they come and release Tom from where he is being stored in the body.
Soon Tom is floating along in the bloodstream and arrives at some muscle tissue that is working hard and needs more energy to keep working. Tom was made for this, so he eagerly moves into the muscle tissue where he gives energy to the muscle.
This is where our story turns into a tragedy for Tom. He is immediately burned up as the fat is converted to energy. The only memorial to Tom is the heat that is generated and radiated away from the body. This story happens thousands and thousands of times, every moment while a person is exercising for an extended period of time. And by the way, though tragic for Tom, it's great news for the rest of us. And this is the only way that a particle of fat can be gotten rid of – by being burned in muscles!
This week, on the digital scale at Gold's Gym, Bill weighed 267 pounds, a loss of six pounds from one week ago. This week Rhonda stayed the same weight, (This week it's her turn to say, "go figure") but she lost significantly in places like hips and waist measurements from a month ago.
And here are their set point scores for this week:
Rhonda: (S) 100 (M) 96 (T) 100 (W) 100 (T) 100 (F) 100
Bill: (S) 100 (M) 96 (T) 100 (W) 100 (T) 100 (F) 100
Here's a very short video of heat steaming (Tom) from Bill's head right after a workout.

I've killed lots of Tom's lately. But I don't feel guilty. Instead I feel great!
